So far this year I’ve been committing to really getting through my physical TBR pile and it’s working pretty well! When I was looking through my shelves, deciding what to read for the month of June, I thought why not try a (very loose) theme?
This month we’re going for a colourful TBR, based on the colours of the rainbow! Now, this did occur to me before I remembered that this month is Pride month (🥳) and I would have loved to have done this with LGBTQ+ titles but unfortunately I only have one or two on my shelves right now. I’m hoping that if I get through the books I initially picked out, I can read those too!
Anyway, here are all of the books I’m hoping to read this month…
The Last by Hanna Jameson
Blurb: The world has ended in nuclear war. You and nineteen other survivors hole up in an isolated Swiss hotel. You wait, you survive. Then you find the body. One of your number has blood on their hands. The race is on to find the killer… before the killer finds you.
The Regulars by Georgia Clark
Blurb: Best friends Evie, Krista and Willow are just trying to make it through their mid-twenties in New York. They’re regular girls, making their way on the corporate ladder, making sense of online dating and making the rent. Until they come across Pretty, a magic tincture that makes them, well… gorgeous. Like, supermodel, drop-dead, beautiful. Who could blame them for exploiting the gift as unexpected doors begin to open? But there’s a dark side to Pretty, too, and as the gloss fades for these modern-day Cinderellas, there’s just one question left: what are they willing to sacrifice to stay pretty?
A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas
Blurb: Feyre will bring vengeance. She has left the Night Court – and her High Lord – and is playing a deadly game of deceit. Her former lover Tamlin is making deals with Feyre’s enemies and she is determined to uncover his plans. But can she make him believe she has come back to him when every fibre of her being yearns for Rhysand? As mighty armies clash, Feyre will discover she is not the only one hiding something. And as the web of secrets, lies and betrayals is revealed, fighting for the truth may cost Feyre and her court the ultimate price.

Ghosts by Dolly Alderton
Blurb: 32-year-old Nina Dean is a successful food writer with a loyal online following, but a life that is falling apart. When she uses dating apps for the first time, she becomes a victim of ghosting, and by the most beguiling of men. Her beloved dad is vanishing in slow motion into dementia, and she’s starting to think about ageing and the gendered double-standard of the biological clock. On top of this she has to deal with her mother’s desire for a mid-life makeover and the fact that all her friends seem to be slipping away from her…
Run, Rebel by Manjeet Mann
Blurb: I am restless, my feet need to fly. Amber is trapped – by her father’s rules, by his expectations, by her own fears. Now she’s ready to fight – for her mother, for her sister, for herself. Freedom always comes at a price.
Bunny by Mona Awad
Blurb: Samantha Heather Mackey is an outsider in her small, highly selective MFA programme at Warren University. In fact, she is utterly repelled by the rest of her fiction writing cohort – a clique of unbearably twee rich girls who call each other ‘Bunny’. But then the Bunnies issue her with an invitation and Samantha finds herself inexplicably drawn to their front door, across the threshold, and down their rabbit hole.
The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
Blurb: Lennie Walker, seventeen, Wuthering Heights obsessed, clarinet player, band geek. Also hopeless romantic, prone to scattering poems all over town and as of four weeks ago, sisterless…

The Last sounds amazing! I’m a mood reader, but I do set a tentative tbr every month. It changes a lot though, not gonna lie.

I finished The Last a few days ago and it wasn’t quite what I expected it to be! I’m having to be really strict with myself lately as my tbr is out of control but otherwise I can be a really picky mood reader too 😂
