So, back in March I set myself my first monthly tbr – and it went really well! I managed to read all of the books I wanted and even snuck in a few extras. Flash forward to April and it didn’t work out so well. I read most of what was on my list but being back in a bookshop for the first time in months had me buying some new books that I couldn’t possibly leave for another time.
Now, I’m properly back to work and, not to jinx it, but I can sort of feel a reading slump coming on (anyone else get that?) so we’re keeping this month light. After a quick count of how many proofs/gifted books I have on my shelves waiting for review, May will be a month dedicated to getting through them! I’ve pulled out the three books that are out this month as priority and anything else is a bonus.
So, here’s what I’m hoping to read this month…
Threadneedle by Cari Thomas
Blurb: Within the boroughs of London, nestled among its streets, hides another city, filled with magic. Anna’s Aunt has always warned her of the dangers of magic. Its twists. Its knots. Its deadly consequences. Now Anna counts down the days to the ceremony that will bind her magic forever. Until she meets Effie and Attis. They open her eyes to a London she never knew existed. A shop that sells memories. A secret library where the librarian feeds off words. A club where revellers lose themselves in a haze of spells. But as she is swept deeper into this world, Anna begins to wonder if her Aunt was right all along. Is her magic a gift … or a curse?
The Boyband Murder Mystery by Ava Eldred
Blurb: Harri and her best friends worship Half Light – an internationally famous boyband. When frontman Frankie is arrested on suspicion of murdering his oldest friend Evan, Harri feels like her world’s about to fall apart. But quickly she realises that she – and all the other Half Light superfans out there – know and understand much more about these boys than any detective ever could. Now she’s rallying a fangirl army to prove Frankie’s innocence – and to show the world that you should never underestimate a teenage girl with a passion…

Do set a monthly TBR? Or maybe you’re a mood reader? How do you decide what you’ll read next? I’d love to know!
You can always find me over on Twitter if you’d like to discuss this post (or any of the others) more or if you’re just looking for some book chat!

I hope you enjoy all of these – I’ve had Threadneedle on my radar for a while so I’m excited to see what you think! I’m not a good TBR setter as I always end up mood reading instead, haha!

I got my proof copy a while ago and it’s been staring at me ever since 😂 I did so well with my March TBR but returning to the normal world leaves much less time for reading 😭

Good luck with your TBR, sounds like you’ve got some great reads to get through! I set out a TBR but I’ve already gone rogue and started reading books I planned to read later in the year 😂.

Thank you! They all sound really good so I’m excited 😊 Ugh that was my problem last month, I went super rogue and read some new books instead of my TBR 😂
