If there’s one thing I love about reading a good book it’s the inevitable crush that can come along with the characters. I feel like we’ve all been there, obsessing over a fictional character and almost willing them into existence π My teenage years were as full of fictional boyfriends as they were celebrity crushes and I’m still not immune!
Here are a few of my top book crushes – not necessarily in any particular order – and the ones that I just can’t shake! Who would make your top 10 list?
Nate Macauley from One of Us is Lying by Karen McManus
Who doesn’t love a bad boy? Especially when he has a heart of gold and a soft spot for nerds π
Luis Santos from One of Us is Next by Karen McManus
Stereotypical hot jock who has a talent for cooking and a real soft side. Ideal. Plus that one scene with Maeve in CafΓ© Contigo ππ – if you know, you know!
Mitch Hertzog from Boy Meets Girl by Meg Cabot
Picture this: a successful lawyer, with his shit together who will do anything (even calling out his brother) to make things right with you. Where can I find one??
Travis Parker from The Choice by Nicholas Sparks
With Southern charm in spades and a wit to match, I’d bother him for the rest of my life!
Denver Beck from the Demon Trappers series by Jana Oliver
Brave, capable and courageous – who wouldn’t want their very own demon trapper?
Dimitri Belikov from the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
We’ve all had a crush on a teacher, right? When he’s training you in hand to hand combat and has a protective streak a mile wide, who would blame you?
Patch from Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
A fall angel lands right at your feet with an easy smile and buckets of charm, falling for the mysterious new boy is totally normal!
Ethan Sullivan from the Chicagoland Vampires series by Chloe Neill
He’s bossy, he’s clever and he’s impossible to ignore, Ethan is everything you’d want in your new vampire authority.
Geralt of Rivia from the Witcher series by Andrzej Sapkowski
The point at which book crushes and celebrity crushes collide! I’m not sure whether it’s his grumpy nature or incredible monster-fighting skills (or the fact that I will forever picture him as Henry Cavill) but I’m sold!
Morozko from the Winternight trilogy by Katherine Arden
Unpredictable, otherworldly and with a soft spot for you and no one else. Demon or not, he had to make the list!
Do we have any of the same bookish crushes? Or is there someone I’ve missed? Which characters would you have chosen? Iβd love to know!
You can always find me over on Instagram and Twitter if youβre looking for a book chat! π

Except for Dimitri I know none of the people on your list π π
Might have to add some of these books to my tbr now π€

I’m always looking for swoon-worthy chaarcters so that’s a very good reason to recommend books I think π

I am yet to meet any character who would meet my level of admiration for Mr Darcy.

I know Dimitri and Geralt on this list although I will say that they are both book crushes! I love Geralt especially. I may have to check out a few of these other books too.

When I was a pre-teen I was obsessed with the Sweet Valley High books – as in trawled the local classified ads for people selling them, stalked car boot sales and charity shops obsessed – and whilst the all American goody two shoes, Todd Wilkins, left me cold, I loved Bruce Patman, the rich bad boy. It was a habit I curse looking back at my first boyfriends π
