Dream Library Tag!

Hey guys! Another tag post for you today, and one that I’ve been meaning to do for months! I was tagged to do this one over on Twitter back in January and is one I’ve definitely thought a lot about πŸ˜‚ This tag was created (I think!) by the wonderful Roxanne over at An Average Life – a fabulous book and lifestyle blogger who is one of my favourite bookish people and deserves all of your love and follows!

Here’s my idea of a dream library!

Somewhere with a pretty view – maybe near the seaside, with lots of trees and flowers. Somewhere that gets lots of soft sunlight (not the super harsh stuff that blinds you ofc) but is also near to where I live (can you tell I’m not a fan of commutes? πŸ˜‚)

I’d definitely have to go for a range. Some super soft, comfy chairs with the big arms that you sink into, with added footstools for tired legs, but also some sturdier chairs with places to tuck your legs if you fancy a proper sit. Window seats are a must with a view like the one above and also – I have to agree with Roxy – a porch swing for summer!

Again, I’d have to go for a range. Overhead lighting for browsing the shelves and actually reading but also lots of natural light for taking those all important bookstagrams and lamps for if you’re getting into something a bit spooky. I’ve always wanted those lights that you can make brighter or dimmer as well so I’d have to put some of those in πŸ˜‚ Also, is it too much to ask for a fancy fireplace?

I love the sound of rain falling on a roof or wind rustling trees as they’re both super atmospheric and the perfect companions to a spooky read! Also, fire crackling is nice and relaxing but as long as there’s nothing too harsh or loud, it’s fine with me!

Is it bad that my mind went straight to food? Warm bread or cookies 😍 But I’m also a sucker for the smell of an old book so a mixture of both would be the dream! If someone could make a candle that smells like bread and books I’d be in heaven πŸ˜‚

ALL OF THE SNACKS! You’ve got to cover all of the bases with snacks – savoury and sweet, salty and chocolatey. Personal favourites are salted popcorn (sweet is the worst), chocolate finger biscuits and a cheeky double decker. Lots and lots of tea and chewy sweets and a good old Christmas cheese board! Ooooh and an endless supply of buttery toast! Definitely getting carried away with myself here πŸ˜‚

Floor to ceiling, packed with as many shelves as possible! Made of a nice, sturdy dark wood with those ladders that everyone dreams of – currently looking for any excuse to have one for my actual bookshelves πŸ˜‚ And there’d be every book imaginable – no supply issues or problems with our faves going out of print!

As a bookseller, everything mUST BE ALPHABETISED otherwise I get twitchy. I also much prefer it when books are grouped by genre as it makes browsing so much easier. Especially pretty covers or special editions are to be faced out so we can marvel at them. Ooooh and everyone would be able to have a little cart with their next few reads on (there are enough copies to go around ofc).

So, that’s my idea of a perfect library! What do you think? Is there anything you’d change? I’d love to know! Here’s me officially tagging anyone who reads this and fancies a go! πŸ“š

You can always find me over on Instagram and Twitter if you’d like to discuss this post (or any others that I’ve created) in more detail πŸ˜Œ
