Blogmas Day 14 – Christmas Characters Tag!

Hey everyone! Welcome back to another day of Blogmas 2018! Today is another tag post to spread a bit of festive cheer since working in retail at this time of year means extra shifts and long hours 😂

A huge thank you to the wonderful Angela (from Hiding Behind Books) for tagging me to do this post! I fell in love with this idea when I saw her original post and couldn’t wait to write up my own answers. If you’re not already following Angela then you definitely should be! She’s such a truly wonderful member of the book blogging community and a generally top human. 🎄📚

Santa Claus
A Gift You Received or Want This Year

Hmm, I haven’t really asked for much this year. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a scarf that I saw in Oliver Bonas and a pair of wireless headphones. Usually, I’d ask for books but since I work in a bookshop I tend to pick up things that catch my eye when I finish a shift 😂

Mrs. Claus
A Favorite Holiday Treat to Have Every Year

Oooh, so many! Bailey’s hot chocolate is always a favourite of mine (you can check out a recipe for it here!) as well as Yule Log 😍 Then again I’m also a sucker for Christmas dinner which comes as a treat (because there’s so much of it) – no better time for sprouts!

Ghost of Christmas Past
A Holiday Memory from Your Past

There are so many wonderful memories of Christmas from when I was young. One of my favourites would be from when I was in a full-blown Barbie phase and was given an inflatable bed (meant for sleepovers). Of course, I wanted it blown up on Christmas morning but got distracted by other toys after a while. I came back into the room to find my dog curled up on the bed, snoozing away 😂 She stayed there all day and we even have a photo of it on our windowsill.

Buddy the Elf
“The best way to spread Christmas Cheer, is singing loud for all to hear.”
A Holiday Song You like to Sing Each Holiday Season

I love a Christmas playlist and any excuse to listen to the festive tunes but one that I never go without is All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey! It’s such a classic! You can check out my top 10 Christmas songs here!

Misfit Toys
An Unpopular Toy You Really Wanted to Get One Year

I don’t know if I ever asked for unpopular things – when I was young it was usually whatever was on the TV adverts or in the Argos catalogue 😂 When I was about seventeen I asked for kitchen equipment as I was off to uni not long after?

A Moment When Your Heart Grew Three Sizes

When I was at secondary school we took part in Operation Christmas Child (or The Shoebox Appeal) every year. The basic premise is that you put together a shoebox for a child (boy or girl, and of a certain age group) and it gets sent around the world to a child who lives in poverty and wouldn’t otherwise have many presents to open. It’s such a wonderful cause and we got to see a video of just how happy the children are when they get their boxes.

Jack Frost
A Tradition You Like to Do Every Winter

Decorating the tree! We stopped getting real trees a few years ago (too much mess) and I love putting the lights and ornaments on. Having the tree up always makes me feel so festive and cosy!

Hero Boy
A Moment You Believed in a Holiday Wish/Miracle

One year I was genuinely astounded that my older brother had gotten me a limited edition Bratz doll (complete with evening wear – I was obsessed with them for the longest time) and figured that some kind of miracle must have taken place to have gotten such a cool gift from him. He followed it up the year later with an alarm clock, so back to business as usual 😂

Cindy Lou Who
A Favorite Holiday Tradition

In my family we always have a mini Christmas on Christmas Eve. We go over to see my Nan (who can’t really hack a full on Christmas Day anymore) to open a few presents, spend some time with her and have a bit of lunch. It’s always a lovely day as we get to share some festive time with our nan without stressing her out.

Frosty the Snowman
A Memory Involving Snow or A Memory You Would Like to Have Involving Snow

I loved having snowball fights when I was younger. I haven’t had one in a while but when I was about thirteen I remember having a huge snowball fight with all of the kids on my street (and some of our parents) as it got dark. I was giddy with excitement and wanted that night to last forever!

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
A Holiday Activity You Like Doing

Christmas shopping! I love scouring shops and the internet to find the perfect gift for someone special to me. The moment that you know you’ve got it is just such a heart-warming feeling and means I can’t wait to give it to them 😊

Ebenezer Scrooge
“Bah, Humbug!”
A Favorite Holiday Saying or Quote

“Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.”

– Norman Vincent Peale
