Blogmas Day 9 – Hot Chocolate Recipe!

Hey guys! Welcome back to another day of Blogmas 2018 and today we’re about to get real about the best way to make a hot chocolate. Now, everyone has their favourite way to do and their favourite ingredients to put in but this is mine!

I’d love to know what you do to make a special festive hot drink – whether it’s extra chocolate or a dash of Christmas alcohol – and to get some recommendations of other concoctions to try!

Ingredients:

  • Milk
    • The amount depends on how big of a drink that you’re wanting to make.
  • Hot chocolate powder
    • No particular brand is necessary.
    • Add teaspoons to taste.
  • Baileys/Cream liqueur
    • If this is something that you like – if not, feel free to miss it out!
  • Chocolate
    • Perfect for adding on top if you have a serious sweet tooth! Choose any kind you like.

Method:

  1. Pour the milk into your chosen mug and heat in the microwave for about 2.5 minutes.
    • Alter the time based on how big your mug is/how much milk you’re using.
    • Alternatively, you could heat the milk in a pan on the hob.
  2. Stir in the hot chocolate powder.
    • The amount you add will depend on your level of sweet tooth.
    • Taste the drink to decide if you need to add more.
  3. Add the cream liqueur.
    • This part is totally optional! If you’re not a drinker then you can always miss out this step and the recipe still tastes really yummy!
    • Add as much as you like the taste of.
  4. Shave the chocolate onto the top.
    • A little added extra for some more flavour.

Other Ideas:

  • If you’re someone who doesn’t fancy a tipple in your hot chocolate, you could always substitute it for a flavoured syrup!
  • Chocolate shavings can be substituted (or added to) with mini marshmallows to make it chewier.
  • It doesn’t matter what kind of hot chocolate powder you use – find one that you like the taste of and go for it!
    • My favourites are either the Milky Hot Chocolate mix from Whittards (a fab Christmas present 😍) or the Wispa powder.
  • If you’re anything like me and have a wicked sweet tooth, chocolate biscuits always taste better dipped into hot chocolate 😍

How do you make your Christmastime hot chocolate? Or maybe you have a different favourite drink for this time of year? I’d love to know!

Thank you for checking out my Blogmas 2018 posts and I can’t wait to share the rest with you! Check back tomorrow for more festive fun 🎅🏻

I’d also just like to point out that I don’t want to cause any offence to those who don’t celebrate Christmas, these posts are just a bit of fun to go along with my own personal celebrations.

You can always find me over on Instagram and Twitter if you fancy a book (or Christmas) chat! 😌🎄

  1. I’m not really into chocolate (and everything sweet) but on Christmas Eves and morning, I let myself have some with my family. 🙂 🙂 this is good recipe to try Hannah. Though my family usually use homemade chocolate. we have a small farm with cocoa trees and my mother knows how to make chocolates. 🙂 🙂

  2. It’s never Christmas for me unless I have a supply of hot chocolate! I usually go for the Malteser mix with a load of marshmallows but I’ve been fancying a change this year – I’m definitely be trying this recipe out!
