Book Blogger Confessions Tag!

I got this tag from The Book Loving Nuts – the original post came from a site called Laura’s Book Reviews which has since been changed/deleted so I couldn’t find it.

1. Which book, most recently, did you not finish?

I always try to finish the books that I start but there have been rare occasions when I just can’t make it to the end. Two that pop to mind are The Chicagoland Vampires series by Chloe Neill (mainly because the main characters Ethan and Merit were just not getting together 😂) or the House of Night series by PC and Kristin Cast (as the main character started to get on my nerves after a while). Saying that, I’m tempted to revisit The Chicagoland Vampires as I’ve just flicked through them and they’ve drawn me back in!

2. Which book is your guilty pleasure?

Hmmm, I guess a guilty pleasure is something that you love that you don’t really want to tell anyone about? Maybe Tabitha Suzuma’s Forbidden. It’s so well written in regards to expressing the characters and getting the reader to engage but it focuses on an incestual relationship which can be difficult when trying to explain why I love the book so much 😂

3. Which book do you love to hate?

That would have to be Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. I was eleven when the first film came out and at the time I was absolutely obsessed with it and it sparked a love of paranormal romance, which I still have a soft spot for today. However, I don’t think I could read it or watch the films and feel the same way now.

4. Which book would you throw into the sea?

Maybe a later book in The Vampire Diaries series by L. J. Smith. I think it was The Return: Nightfall or The Return: Shadow Souls that really disappointed me. I got a hardback copy of this book for Christmas from my parents and was so excited to read it as I’d enjoyed the ones that came before it but it really frustrated me and felt like it wasn’t adding much to the plot. I went off this series so much after that that I got rid of the rest of the books 😂

5. Which book have you read the most?

This is a hard question – my bookshelves are full of books that I love and have read multiple times! Maybe Meg Cabot’s Boy Meets Girl which is such a comfort book for me (read my review of it here) or the Night World series by L. J. Smith (a series of shorter stories set in the same universe) which I loved seeing the connections between characters and read them over and over again when I first got them.

6. Which book would you hate to receive as a present?

My mom loves to buy books for people for Christmas or birthdays and every one that she’s gotten for me so far has been really good – she knows me well! I guess I’m not a huge poetry fan so maybe an anthology of older poems like the ones you analyse at school?

7.  Which book could you not live without?

Hmmm, maybe A History of Britain in 21 Women by Jenni Murray as it’s so inspirational to read about successful women who went down in British history for doing something great. We all need a bit of that girl power inspiration sometimes!

8. Which book made you the angriest?

Maybe The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. I loved them and have seen the movie and tv show which I enjoyed but Jace and Clary’s relationship always makes me so angry as everytime they get close to being together something else comes along and rips them apart! Similarly, the Demon Trappers series by Jana Oliver has something like this where (spoiler alert!) Riley and Beck take absolutely ages to get together which is annoying when they’re so cute together 😂

9. Which book made you cry the most?

I’m a sucker for a book that will make me cry! I always shed a tear at Nicholas Sparks’ books (especially The Longest Ride!). Honourable mention goes to Alyssa Sheinmel’s Faceless but the book (and movie) that made me cry the most is The Fault in Our Stars by John Green – I sob pretty much from the scene in Amsterdam (if you’ve read it you know what I mean!) to the end.

10. Which book cover do you hate the most?

This is so easy for me! I don’t hate it but it frustrates me soooo much. I was a huge fan of the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead and I have the first five in lovely black covers which they’d stopped making by the time that the sixth book came out so my copy of book six is in a bright red cover which really messes up my bookshelf 😂

Have you read any of the books I mentioned? What did you think of them?

This post is supposed to be a tag but instead of tagging individuals, anyone reading this is absolutely encouraged to answer the same questions! I’d love to hear your answers!

You can always find me over on Instagram and Twitter if you fancy a book chat! 😌📚
